*deep exhale*

Ok now that the stinging passed (not completely) and I calmed down I'll post about this.

So Turks kicked Croatia out of competition. And on what stupid motherfucking lucky way. There was 2 hours (with extra time) of game without goal. In last minutes of extra time, Croatia scored, people happy that they couldn't be happier (us of course). And as I said, it was last minute, so I don't know why judge Rosetti (who seemed very fair judge during the game, if I may say) didn't whistle the end (you could see on clock that the time was OUT, OVER, and in that practically non existing time Turks scored!!!

FFFFFFFFFuck! I couldn't believe that shit!! Bilić was pissed off and yelling at another judge who didn't lift the sign for change (Bilić wanted to switch players)

I hope Germans kick Turks' asses.

Stupid judge!!!! If he ever comes on vacation to Croatia he won't have good time *killer mood*. I hope he gets spanked by his mum (she's Croatian - that also explains why he's tall...:P)

*sigh* I hope we kick ass on World cup, Bilić certainly did some changes, and by then we'll have Eduardo and newbie players will be more trained. Also, our goalkeeper must train HARD. And just in case, they should work on penalties.

I still love then nonetheless. ♥ You were great boys!

Fire in my building!! Eeeek!

OMG it stinks so baaaad!!

I was in my room doing something, cleaning, and I felt a smell. I hurried to the kitchen, sure that I left something on the stove (it often happens to me that I put milk for cappuccino on and go back to room and forget about it) so when I came and inspected situation nothing was there. Not my flat, but smell was sensed well.

I went back to my room and later mother came and in panic asked me is that smell coming from our flat (again, she knows about my habit of leaving milk on the stove) and she thought I did it. I was a bit worried because smell was getting stronger and stronger and I knew it was someone's lunch got burnt, but mother kept saying that burnt lunch smells that bad.
But then I heard people in hallways shouting "Where's burning?!". I ran to the door opened them, and holy crap, smoke in the hallway!! I live in 10 stores building and I'm on the 7th floor, it would be nasty if there's fire!

Luckily someone called firemen and I was pissed at my mother for telling me it's nothing and that everything is ok. It wasn't ok!! Fire was on the lower floor and we'd be stuck in case of fire. Our lift can't take more than 4 people, and there's 36 flats!

grrr

It's been 2 hours since firemen and it still stinks so bad! It's hot outside and I need open windows but I can't open them widely because of the smell!! uuugh

Internet censorship

Half an hour ago I was checking some video sites, including Vimeo, Viddler, Revver and Veoh. I have account on all of them (but not uploaded videos on all). I was unpleasantly surprised to see this message on Veoh:

Veoh is no longer available in CROATIA.

W.T.F.?

I didn't get any message about it! What if I had videos uploaded there?! That's bad bad service.

I asked [info]iflie can she see it, she said yes, but not videos tagged with Croatia. Finally she found Veoh forum where I saw the reason.

Someone asked what happened and this is official response by Veoh's staff:
"Unfortunately Veoh will be ending service in your country due to a low concentration of users. Veoh is maintaining markets when we have the highest concentration of viewers."
(yes, with all grammar mistakes)

And then later I found a topic with a list of blocked countries - 165 of them. Mostly 3rd world countries in Asia and Africa but lots lots of them from Europe too and South America too.

I personally find it offending, but most importantly I find it business suicide. Every user/customer/viewer is important, no matter how poor/rich their country is and no matter how many users in that country are.

That is not first case of internet censorship of course. I think most of the people know about Flickr not being available in Iran, China and United Arab Emirates (because of governments) and content filters for Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Korea (from Flickr's side); Google not being available in China...

Then only yesterday I was faced with blocking. I tried www.hulu.com (movie, video and tv show website), and earlier www.pandora.com (music streaming website) which are available for USA citizens only.

Why is that?! Isn't it better if they have more users? Is politics involved again? I thought that business always overcame politics at least on internet.

Yes I know there are other sites, but some are really good but blocked.

Geeks and techie people are trying to overcome barriers by making different scripts and programs to get behind the shield. I found 2-3 of them but one didn't work, other had some error and third one slooowed down internet badly so the video couldn't be loaded.

*sigh*

Enough of the ranting.

Geeks' revenge will come!! :P

Searching for spirituality, finding (gay) sexuality *g*

I'm crazy about Stumble Upon and use it frequently.

Not sure if you're familiar with StumbleUpon and how it works: It's something like social bookmarking site, but it finds websites you might like. So you make account, put the topics you're intrested in (sexuality, pornography, food, technology, health, ecology, books, rock...there are lots of them) and then you have SU toolbar on which you have a stumble button, you click on it and it gives you a website someone else found (thinks it's interesting) and tagged it with certain topic. If you like the site it gave you, you put the 'thumb up' if not 'thumb down'. It makes statistics of what sites you liked and didn't like.

Now, I've been reading Seeker To Seeker fic last 2-3 days (taking it slowly :p) and noticed that it's got thumb up (I agree, it's great story, but I was surprised to see fanfiction on SU :D). The thing is...the topic it was put under.

Wicca.

I cracked myself up!! Better topic would be pornogrpahy, fiction, gay-sex than this. Because, although Wicca is connected to Harry Potter (obviously) some poor soul that is searching for some info on wicca and seeking for their religion or spitiruality might find themself reading Harry and Draco shagging each other!! I'd love to see person's face! Priceless. :D
Haha, imagine someone (well, not so clever) thinks that's what wiccans do, so they join them just because of it!! :P

This is great way of promoting fanfiction, actually. So I decided to put all my fave fanart and fanfics on stumble so people can enjoy. :D If it's put online, then it's public and everbody can see it. And SU site doesn't mind: they have BDSM, pornography, gay-sex, lesbian-sex, fetish etc. topics and when stumbling a site for the first time you put is it adult or not, so it's pr0n galore!! :D

LOL!

I recently discovered this Facebook group and I joined it right away (partly in spite to few people from my friends list who joined some group which is against Gay parade in my country, so that they know my stands as well! Well, on wacky way :p)

Here's group info:

If Gay Marriage is Good Enough for Dumbledore, it's Good Enough for America

"Young Albus spent years chasing his boyhood friend Grindelwald, harboring a secret love for a man he could not have. He never told Grindelwald how he felt, living as he was in the pre-Stonewall era. Eventually he turned his wand on his heart's desire, defeating him and banishing him to a life sentence in Nurmengard, some wacked out wizard prison. After a lifetime spent afterward battling injustice, inequality, and racits, Dumbledore carried his secret to his grave.

Though he has passed on to cruise King's Cross in the afterlife, Dumbledore would want to know that his death was not in vain. Having spent most of his life battling Voldemort, Albus never had time for pride parades or writing letters to his parliamentarians.

In the spirit of political opportunism, I encourage all people -- even Gypsies -- to make a stand to legalize gay marriage. Those of you in countries that have already approved it, good work! Those of you in countries without running water, you work on that first."

ETA: I just now saw a link on group - to this LJ! hahaha, fandom is everywhere!!

For all IM addicted people: Digsby!!!

Not sure about you but I have MSN, Gtalk, ICQ and Y!IM contacts. And of course it's pain in the arse to have all those clients opened at the same time - it slows down the comp.
Few weeks ago or so I read on MakeUseOf website this article about Digsby and was intrigued but still didn't try it out. (Btw, here are screenshots)

Well 2 days ago there was a poll on that very same site and Digsby was very high, so I decided to download it and try it out.

It supports even Facebook chat!!

Unfortunately there are things that Digsby doesn't have. Like Window Live Messanger's nudge or option to collect smilies (which is one of my strongest reasons why I love Windows Live Messenger).

It's different and it takes time to get used to it, but it's really practical if you have many contacts. It's still in beta and I hope they'll work on it even more and add more cool features. As the matter of fact, on their official forum they even have Feature Requests thread so it's open to everybody.

And for further customization you can go to this website and download emoticons, skins etc.

I really hope they improve on better and not crowd it with bunch of stupid stuff. I hate to see good thing destroyed or neglected.

My impression in this 2 days is very positive, and I recommend it to everyone!

any photo editing knowers on my flist?

Hey darlings, is there any of you who is decently good with Photoshop or any other image editing program? (I personally have Paint.NET)

I would need little help with editing some of my photos. My friend and I were taking photos (of us, goofing around) but her camera has way too strong flash, so the pics are too light, we are totally washed out. So I wonder how do I make them more natural?

help?

My heart is breaking...

My mother is giving away Zorzi...

She already contacted some people, and she is in such a rush to give his away as soon as possible. She said if I don't find him home soon, she'll take him somewhere, in the nature!! How will he survive there!? If he needs to go I want him to be in good family, safe and loved.

Now I'm afraid to leave the house, in fear that when I come back he wouldn't be here anymore.

Just because of stupid hairs and nails...

Every time I look at Zorzi I start crying. I love that silly ginger ball so much...

She was even thinking of giving them both, but she's not sure about Lulu, she loves her more.

If she gives them away, she'll be lonely, they could be her company in older age.

I will never forger her this.

Have you ever seen mammatus clouds!?

I found out about them today and wow, amazing!!

Mammatus (also known as mammatocumulus, meaning "bumpy clouds") is a meteorological term applied to a cellular pattern of pouches hanging underneath the base of a cloud. The name "mammatus" is derived from the Latin mamma (breast), due to the resemblance between the shape of these clouds and human female breasts.

Mammatus are most often associated with the anvil cloud that extends from a cumulonimbus, but may also be found under altocumulus, altostratus, stratocumulus, and cirrus clouds, as well as contrails and volcanic ash clouds. In the United States, sky gazers may be most familiar with the very distinct and more common cumulonimbus mammatus. When occurring in cumulonimbus, mammatus are often indicative of a particularly strong storm. These tend to form more often during warm months and over the midwest and eastern portions of the country, and more infrequently over the west and southwest. Due to the intensely sheared environment in which mammatus form, aviators are strongly cautioned to avoid cumulonimbus with mammatus.

Mammatus may appear as smooth, ragged or lumpy lobes and may be opaque or semitransparent. Because mammatus occur as a grouping of lobes, the way they clump together can vary from an isolated cluster to a field of mamma that spread over hundreds of kilometers to being organized along a line, and may be composed of unequal- or similarly-sized lobes. The individual mammatus lobe average diameters of 1-3 km and lengths on average of 0.5 km. A lobe can last an average of 10 minutes, but a whole cluster of mamma can range from 15 minutes to a few hours. Their composition is usually mostly ice, but can be a mixture of ice and liquid water or almost entirely liquid water.

Style-modifying internet to suit yourself

Many people I know are using Mozilla Firefox, which is a great browser I admit!

I love it's add-ons and extensions.

I'm not sure how familiar are you with add-ons, and what they can do, but I'll present you only 2 today, the ones that are aesthetically important.

Greasemonkey - userscripts which you can get here and to download scripts go here
Stylish - user styles which you can download here

Those are small scripts/styles which change the looks, layouts of web pages.

I find them extremely handy.

The main difference between scripts and styles (in my opinion) is that styles won't extremely change the page looks, but only enhance it, like, change colors, change font etc. But scripts could change whole page's encoding and layout.

IMPORTANT: These scripts and styles change your view of the page ONLY. Everyone else will see them as they are, unless they have scripts and styles as well.
Greasemonkey )

Stylish )

My favorite scripts and styles )

Explore this a bit, it's very interesting! And if you find some new cool script or style, let me know! I always like more! :D

If you're interested I might make a post with other useful add-ons I found. :D (well, I'll post it anyway :P)

Tracking your art/pictures/work online with Google Alerts + Photoshop

There is a simple way to protect your image without a big visible (and ugly) watermark..

METADATA...

Metadata is essentially information embedded into your media that stays there.

Through Photoshop (most versions CS, CS2, CS3 for sure) all you have to do is go:

FILE> FILE INFO, and it will bring up all your embedded info. Simply embed a copyright warning in the correct box (if in doubt, use the HELPfunction on your software)

For instance, i might use "©Slash_Eater_2008"

Now my image is protected with an invisible, digital watermark.. but lets not stop there.. Lets have the internet tell us any time someone posts my image with my invisible copyright!

Google alerts!, one of the best kept secrets on the interwebs.

From here, i can enter into my Search terms:©Slash_Eater_2008, tell google to notify me once weekly (more if you are a big shot) and have them sent directly to your email!

Just like that, you are informed of every infraction that takes advantage of your work!

Online photo editing tools

Reminded by the recently launched Adobe Photoshop Express, I remembered two other online photo editing sites I love, so I'll post it here, in case you didn't know. :D

¤ Adobe Photoshop Express ¤

I expected much more, since the Photoshop is worldy famous for all their gadgets and options for creativity and manipulation.
Simple interface, looks professional and serious, easy to navigate, a bit slow.

* you must have account to use it
* option to connect to your Facebook, Photobucket and Picasa accounts.
* you can upload pictures up to 2GB
* creating albums.
* Basics: crop&rotate, autocorrect, exposure, red-eye removal, touchup, saturation
* Tuning: white balance, highlight, fill light, sharpen, soft focus
* Effects: pop color, hue, black&white, tint, sketch, distort
* embedding photos

It's still in beta, and I'm sorry to say, it's obvious. I just tried to edit my photo and it keeps saying Preparing photo for Edit...and that bar just rotates but not loading...But when I tried it 2 days ago it worked fine, so maybe it's just a little glitch. I hope they'll be adding much more options in the near future. Right now, they offer you almost the same thing as you can do in Picasa.

¤ Picnik ¤
I discovered Picnik accidentally on Box.net. Then I saw it on Flickr, which is awesome. Picnik's look is adorable, makes it more fun and simple to use. Recently it made much more options available for Free users (they also have Premium users).

* option to connect to your MySpace, Facebook, Flickr, Webshots, Photobucket, Picasa accounts, Yahoo search and even your webcam
* you don't have to have account to use it
* they don't offer storage, but after editing you can save it to your computer or one of your photo hosting sites (Flickr, Photobucket...etc)
* Basics: auto-fix, rotate, crop, resize, exposure, colors, sharpen, red-eye
* effects black&white, sepia, boost, soften, vignette, matte, infra-red film, lomo-ish, holga-ish, HDR-ish, night vision, cinemascope, orton-ish, 1960's, tint, invert, duo-tone, heat map, cross process, focal b&w, focal soften, focal pixelate, focal zoom, pencil sketch, neon, doodle, gooify, pixelate, posterize, film grain, snow (many of this stuff weren't available for free users until recently so I was thrilled when I got notification e-mail...:)
- text lots of different fonts
- shapes hearts, stars, flowers...etc. Additional ones for special occasions: Christmas, Valentine's, Easter, St. Patrick's...
- touch up Unfortunately only 2 options: teeth whiten & blemish fix.
- frames 5 frames
- advanced Curves and Levels - this is for Premium members only

* You can find an add-on for Firefox

I hope they'll keep improving and adding more and more options, which seems to be possible, how they started. :D

¤ FotoFlexer ¤

I started using FotoFlexer after I saw it on Photobucket (Picnik is associated with Flickr and FotoFlexer with Photobucket). It offers almost everything I said about Picnik. Only difference is between shapes they offer for creating.

* uploading photos on your FotoFlexer account, not sure about limit
* after editing you can save it to your computer or one of your photo hosting sites (Flickr, Photobucket...etc)
* you can connect to your Facebook, Picasa, Photobucket, Flickr, Phanfare, SmugMug, MySpace accounts, Yahoo search, webcam
* you don't have to have account to use it
* Basic: same as for Picnik
* Effects: Blur edges, blueprint, neon, greyscale, invert, painting, cartoon, pop art, bronze, sepia, old photo, ink stamp, color rotate, pixelate, soften, tint, duoe-tone, heat map, sketch, color cketch, fresco, film grain, night vision
* Decorate: stickers, text, draw, erase, fill, grab color, speech and thought bubbles, insert-a-face, fun cards, borders (frames), poster
* Animate: stars, lovies, stickers
* Beautify: smooth, sharpen, fix blemishes, smooth wrinkles
* Distort: twirls, stretching, squishing, bulge, pinch
* Layers: complicated to explain, go and see and play a bit
* Geek: smart resize, smart recolor, smart cutout, smart scissors, curves, morph, webcam

And additionally

¤ Picasa ¤ Picasa is a photo organizing software you download to your computer. It offers simple editing, such as,: cropping, resizing, saturation, color, auto-fix, red-eye removal, back and white, sepia, sharpening and some other stuff. If other editors are too much for you and you don't need that much, Picasa is great for you. Only as I said, Picasa is not online editor. You must download the software. Also, if you use Picasa web albums, Picasa organizer has a button which allows you to simply send the photo to your online album.

***

I hope any of this comes useful to you! :D
